James Furman, a self-taught artist, has more than 30 years of experience in the stained glass medium. His works include public art commissions, liturgical and residential work, and autonomous panels.

In public art commissions, glass work joins with the architecture to express the purpose and mission of the building. Residential and liturgical works are designed to convey the thoughts and ideas of those most closely connected to the building. The centuries old medium brings a sense of identity and elegance to its setting. To continue experimenting in the medium and to allow personal expression, Mr. Furman creates autonomous works.

Mr. Furman’s works begin with the lines and the integrity of the total design. Color is added to extend and harmonize with the rhythm and focus of the design. With architectural work the primary concern is for the stained glass to belong to the building. If the glass accomplishes that, then it is successful.
